Cookie Policy

Effective June 12, 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They let a website remember information about your visit — for example that you are signed in, or anonymous data about how the site performs. Some cookies are essential to deliver the service; others are optional.

Categories we use

  • Strictly necessary. Required for authentication, security, and remembering your consent choice. These are always on and cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics. Help us understand performance and usage in aggregate so we can improve Conol. These are only set after you opt in, and are provided by Google Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Speed Insights is cookieless — it loads only with your consent but stores nothing on your device.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not allow third-party tracking for marketing purposes. Google Analytics is configured for measurement only — we do not enable Google Signals or ads personalization. If you withdraw analytics consent, we stop measurement and expire the Google Analytics cookies.

Local storage (stays on your device)

Conol also keeps a few items in your browser’s local storage. Unlike cookies, this data is not transmitted on its own: UI preferences never leave your browser, and a chat draft stays on your device and only reaches our servers if and when you choose to send the message. It all disappears if you clear your browser data.

KeyPurpose
themeRemembers your light/dark theme choice.
workspace.sidebar.collapsedRemembers whether the sidebar is collapsed.
workspace.<id>.note.<id>.expandedRemembers which note folders you have expanded in the sidebar.
panel.*Remembers layout preferences: panel sizes, sidebar width, and the active sidebar tab.
releaseNotes.lastSeenVersionRemembers the last release notes you viewed.
conol_cookie_consent_syncLets other open tabs apply a cookie-preference change immediately.
conol-chat-draft:v1:*Preserves an unsent chat message draft so it isn’t lost on reload.

Managing your preferences

You can change your choice any time using the button below, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the app from working (e.g. you will not be able to stay signed in).

Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies from settings. Helpful links: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
