Conol 1.1.2 — Unusual image files no longer break a chat

Conol

  • release-notes

This is a small release with one fix, and it matters if you have ever attached an SVG to a chat and watched the conversation stop answering. We're sorry about that one.

Fixes

  • SVG, HEIC and other image formats arrive as files. The model can look at four kinds of picture: JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP. Conol treated anything that called itself an image the same way, so an SVG logo, a HEIC photo from an iPhone, or an AVIF, BMP or TIFF file was handed to the model as a picture it could not read. The model refused the whole message, and because the attachment stayed in the chat's history, it refused every message after it too. The chat looked alive but never answered again. Now only those four formats are shown to the agent as pictures. Everything else you attach arrives as a file, with its name, that the agent can open and read like any other document. For an SVG that means it can read the markup and tell you what the drawing contains or edit it.
  • The same rule everywhere. The fix applies on the web, on the Mac, and in the iPhone app without an update, because the check happens when Conol receives your message. It also covers photos and stickers sent to the agent through Telegram, WeChat, Discord, Slack and WhatsApp.

Tip

A chat that already stopped answering because of one of these files can't be repaired, since the attachment is part of its history. Start a new chat and attach the same files there; they will arrive as attachments and the agent will work with them.
