Conol 0.59.0 — A faster GLM, and Google sign-in works on iPhone
Conol
- release-notes
A small release with one addition and one overdue repair. There is a new model for people who care more about how quickly an answer arrives than about squeezing the last cent out of a token, and a sign-in path on the iPhone app that has been broken since the day it was written.
GLM 5.3 FlashX
Why. Our cheapest models are cheap first and fast second, and those are not the same thing. GLM 5.3 Flash is the least expensive capable model we offer, but when you are watching a long answer arrive one token at a time, price is not what you are feeling. FlashX is the same underlying model tuned the other way: it runs at roughly 200 tokens per second, several times quicker in practice, and costs about four times as much as Flash.
That multiplier sounds worse than it is. Four times a very small number is still a small number. Flash carries a 0.03× cost badge against our baseline model and FlashX carries 0.14×, so even the faster one runs at roughly a seventh of what the baseline costs. It stays under the threshold that gates premium models, which means it is available on the free plan like Flash is.
How to use it. Open the model menu in the composer, go to Advanced → Z.ai, and pick GLM 5.3 FlashX. It sits next to GLM 5.3 Flash, and the cost badge on each row is the quickest way to see the trade you are making.

It reads images, holds a million tokens of context, and supports reasoning effort, so you can raise Effort in the same menu when a question deserves more thought. Reach for it when you are iterating, when you are watching the answer stream, or when a long document needs summarising and you would rather not wait. Stay on plain Flash for bulk work you are not watching, where the cheaper rate is the whole point.
Tip
A chat already running on another model keeps that model until you switch. Pick FlashX from the menu in an existing chat, or start a fresh one.
Fixes
- Google sign-in on the iPhone app — tapping "Continue with Google" ran through the Google consent screen and then dropped you back on the conol.ai home page, never signed in, with no error to explain why. Email and passkey sign-in worked, so the only clue was that one button did nothing. It had never worked: the flow was written and shipped in a single commit in June and nobody caught it, because the two halves of it were each individually plausible. It now completes and signs you in. The fix is in iPhone app version 0.3.1, so update from TestFlight; nothing on the web or desktop was affected.
